Second Phase Teaching Practice at Govt. Boys High School, Kayamkulam.

Week - 9


  • Day 42 - 14th January 2019
       I reached the school at 9:35am and after signing the register went our allotted room. Today our juniors from the college had came for the induction programme. I gave two of my periods to the student teachers of Budha teacher training college, and in the free period I got, I conducted the diagnostic test in 9th B. Today I observed Vijitha's class in 9th A. At 4:00pm we signed the register and returned home.

  • Day 43 - 15th January 2019
       After reaching the school at 9:30am I signed the register. I didn't had any classes as per the timetable, but Hena Miss asked me to arrange a class for observation and I got 3 more free periods in the classes where I teach. I took two lessons in 8th A, they are 'Components of water and the reaction of water with metals' and 'Polymers'. Both the classes were carried out with the help of ICT, experiment, demonstration of models and discussions. In 9th B I took classes on 'EMF and Voltmeter' and 'Combination of cells'. The classes were basically experimental and that helped to convey the content easily. I observed Lekshmi Sabu's class in 9th B on Hebar process. We returned home at 4:00pm after signing the register.

  • Day 44 - 16th January 2019
       I reached the school at 9:35pm and after signing the register took part in the assembly conducted by teacher trainees from Budha teacher training college.



       I gave one of my periods to the juniors for their observation and took a class in 9th B on 'Electric Current and Ammeter'. And in another period I took the remedial lesson in 9th B using my innovative work(Animated Explainer Video).

       Today Vijitha and Sarath took some of the students to a workshop conducted by Kayamkulam Municipality. And as it was the last day of the induction programme of Budha College students, they distributed sweets to everyone. As usual, we served food to the children and at 4:00 pm returned home.

  • Day 45 - 17th January 2019
       As usual, I reached the school at 9:35am along with Lekshmi Sabu. I gave one of my periods to the juniors from our college and took one class in 9 the B on 'Ohm's Law' and took 'Polymers' in 8th B. Ohm's law was taught with the help of experiments and the students were active as the topic seems to be more interesting. We served lunch to the children and the afternoon was engaged with free hours. At 4:05 pm we signed the register.

  • Day 46 - 18th January 2019
       I reached the school at 9:15am as it was friday. Today was the last day of the induction programme of our juniors, hence they conducted the assembly. Assembly started with a prayer followed by pledge, news and thought of the day. The school authorities distributed a prize for the student who participated in the Social Science talent exam.



    I didn't had any classes as per the timetable but I was engaged through out the day. In the 1st and 2nd hour, I took classes in 9 the B on the topics 'Resistance' and 'Parallel and Series connection of resistance'. The classes went well and in the 3rd and 4th period I took the students of 8th B to the computer lab and helped them with their work. In the lunch time we served food to the children and in the afternoon I was engaged with free hours. Our Junior student teachers distributed sweets to everyone as it was their last day in the school. At 4:00 pm we signed the register and returned home.

Week - 1 Day 1- 14th November 2018               As a part of 2 year B.Ed curriculum we, the student teachers of KUCTE, Kayamkulam were assigned to do our teaching practice Phase-2 at Govt. Boys High School, Kayamkulam. I reached the school at 9:30 am with other student teachers. The teachers and other staff gave us a warm welcome on our first day. After signing the register we went to the room which was allotted for us. Even though it was Children's Day, there were no activities conducted by the authorities which were a little disappointing for us. As per the timetable, I had two classes to take which were 8th and 9th division. I did take the lessons refraction in 9.B and water , boiling point and evaporation in 8. A . Week - 3 Day 9 - 26th November 2018        We reached the school at 9:30 am and after signing the attendance register took part in the morning assembly conducted by 9th A division. I took two classes today in 8th and 9th division. In 9th standard, I gave lesson notes and in 8th standard, revised the topic which had already taught and cleared their doubts.  As usual we served food to the children and in the afternoon session handled two free hours. At 4:00pm signed the register and returned home.  Day 10 - 27th November 2018      After reaching the school at 9:30 am, signed the register. I didn't had any periods as per the timetable and took care of some classes which were free. We left the school premises at 4:00pm. Second Phase Teaching Practice at Govt. Boys High School, Kayamkulam.

Week - 5 Day 20 - 10th December 2018        As usual, I reached the school at 9:30 am along with Lekshmi Sabu and after signing the register went to the room allotted for us. As it was Monday, an assembly was conducted by the leadership of 8th A students. Prayer, pledge, news, quote of the day and thought of the day was presented. An oath-taking as a part of the Human rights day celebration was organized. I did had two classes in the morning session and due to the exam, I revised the topics in the meantime. We served lunch to the children and the classes ended early. We returned home at 3:15pm after signing the attendance register. Day 21 - 11th December 2018    We didn't go to school due to the demise of our friend Stephy Suresh. The consent teachers from our college informed the school authorities about the matter.
